THE ROLE OF THE APOSTLE

Five-Fold Ministry – Part 1

Key Verse: Ephesians 4:11-12 – “And He Himself gave some to be apostles…”

1. Introduction

The Five-Fold Ministry is God’s design for building the church. The first ministry mentioned is the Apostle, because apostles are foundational leaders who establish the structure and direction of God’s Kingdom.

“You are built on the foundation of apostles and prophets…” — Ephesians 2:20

Meaning of Apostle

The word Apostle (Apostolos) means:

  • One who is sent

  • A commissioned representative

  • A pioneer who establishes new Kingdom territory

Apostles are not just title-holders; they carry a mission and establish God’s government in the church.

2. The Biblical Function of an Apostle

1. Lays Foundations

Apostles lay the doctrinal and spiritual foundation of churches.

“As a wise master builder, I laid the foundation…” — 1 Corinthians 3:10

They protect the church from false teaching and bring clarity to truth.

2. Pioneer New Territory

Apostles often go where the gospel has not been preached.

Paul: “I preached the gospel where Christ was not known.” — Romans 15:20

They start new churches, ministries, and mission movements.

3. Equip and Train Leaders

Apostles raise and mentor pastors, teachers, evangelists and prophets.

“Set in order what remains and appoint elders…” — Titus 1:5

They build teams and multiply leadership.

4. Spiritual Authority and Government

Apostles establish spiritual order, discipline, and direction.

“For your building up, not for tearing down.” — 2 Corinthians 10:8

They provide oversight and help churches stay aligned to vision.

5. Confirm Signs, Wonders, and Miracles

Apostolic ministry is accompanied by supernatural manifestations.

“The signs of an apostle were accomplished among you…” — 2 Corinthians 12:12

This establishes divine legitimacy.

6. Expand Kingdom Vision

Apostles see beyond one church—they think Nations.

“Make disciples of all nations.” — Matthew 28:19

They accelerate global mission.

3. Characteristics of an Apostle

  • Deep revelation of Christ

  • Humility and suffering for the gospel

  • Father’s heart for people

  • Strong faith and perseverance

  • Ability to bring unity in the Body of Christ

4. The Apostle and the Local Church

Apostles help churches:

  • Maintain biblical doctrine

  • Grow in spiritual maturity

  • Stay connected to Kingdom purpose

  • Have protection and accountability

  • Walk in supernatural power

The church without apostolic covering becomes weak, directionless, and divided.

5. Apostles in Today’s Church

Apostolic ministry did not end with the 12 disciples.
The Bible shows other apostles such as Paul, Barnabas, Silas, Timothy, Titus, Andronicus, Junia.

Apostles still exist today because Jesus has not stopped building His church.

“He gave apostles … until we all reach unity and maturity…” — Ephesians 4:11-13

If the church still needs unity and maturity, we still need apostles.

6. Conclusion

Apostles are God-sent pioneers who:

Build

Establish

Multiply

Protect

Advance the Kingdom

The church becomes strong, mature, and fruitful when apostolic ministry is functioning.

Prayer

Father, thank You for raising apostles in Your church. Give us discernment to recognize true apostolic grace and humility to receive their ministry. Use us to expand Your Kingdom on earth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

पाँच दलीय सेवकाई परमेश्वर की कलीसिया को मज़बूत और परिपक्व बनाने के लिए दी गई है।
इफिसियों 4:11 में सबसे पहले “प्रेरित” का उल्लेख आता है, क्योंकि प्रेरित वह नींव डालते हैं जिस पर कलीसिया खड़ी होती है।

“तुम प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की नींव पर खड़े किए गए हो।” — इफिसियों 2:20

Apostle का अर्थ (Meaning)

“Apostolos” शब्द का अर्थ है:

  • भेजा हुआ (One who is sent)

  • विशेष मिशन पर नियुक्त

  • नई आत्मिक भूमि का अग्रणी – Pioneer

प्रेरित केवल उपाधि (title) नहीं है, बल्कि परमेश्वर से भेजी गई बुलाहट और ज़िम्मेदारी है।

2. प्रेरित का बाइबल आधारित कार्य (Biblical Functions of an Apostle)

1. नींव रखना (Laying Foundations)

प्रेरित शिक्षा, सिद्धांत और आत्मिक नींव स्थापित करते हैं।

“मैंने ज्ञानवान वास्तुकार की नाईं नींव डाली…” — 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:10

वे कलीसिया को झूठी शिक्षाओं से बचाते और सत्य में स्थिर करते हैं।

2. नई भूमि और नए क्षेत्रों में सेवा (Pioneering New Territory)

प्रेरित वहाँ जाते हैं जहाँ सुसमाचार नहीं पहुँचा।

“मैंने वहाँ सुसमाचार प्रचार किया जहाँ मसीह का नाम नहीं लिया गया था।” — रोमियों 15:20

वे नई कलीसियाएँ और मिशन कार्य शुरू करते हैं।

3. अगुवों को तैयार करना (Equipping and Training Leaders)

प्रेरित पादरी, सुसमाचारक, शिक्षक और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं को तैयार करते हैं।

“जो बाकी रह गया उसे ठीक कर के अगुवों को नियुक्त कर।” — तीतुस 1:5

वे मजबूत टीम बनाते हैं और सेवकाई का विस्तार करते हैं।

4. आत्मिक अधिकार और अनुशासन (Spiritual Authority and Government)

प्रेरित कलीसिया की दिशा और अनुशासन बनाए रखते हैं।

“ताकि तुमारी उन्नति हो, न कि नाश।” — 2 कुरिन्थियों 10:8

उनका कार्य विघटन नहीं, बल्कि निर्माण और एकता लाना है।

5. चिन्ह, अद्भुत काम और चमत्कार (Signs, Wonders & Miracles)

असली प्रेरित की सेवकाई में चमत्कार उपस्थित होते हैं।

“प्रेरित के चिन्ह—चमत्कार और सामर्थ के कार्यों के द्वारा सिद्ध हुए…” — 2 कुरिन्थियों 12:12

यह मसीह की सामर्थ को प्रकट करता है।

6. राज्य की दृष्टि को आगे बढ़ाना (Advancing Kingdom Vision)

प्रेरित एक कलीसिया से आगे देखता है—राष्ट्रों का दृष्टिकोण रखता है।

“सब जातियों को चेला बनाओ।” — मत्ती 28:19

3. प्रेरित के गुण (Characteristics of an Apostle)

  • मसीह के प्रकाशन का गहरा अनुभव

  • नम्रता और सुसमाचार के लिए कष्ट सहने की तत्परता

  • पिता का हृदय (Spiritual Fatherhood)

  • दृढ़ विश्वास और स्थिरता

  • एकता लाने और मार्गदर्शन देने की क्षमता

  • पवित्र आत्मा के सामर्थ के साथ चलना

4. कलीसिया में प्रेरित की भूमिका (The Apostle and the Church)

प्रेरित कलीसिया की सहायता करता है—

  • बाइबल की शिक्षा में स्थिर रहने में

  • आत्मिक परिपक्वता में बढ़ने में

  • परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार दिशा में चलने में

  • सुरक्षा और उत्तरदायित्व में रहने में

  • अलौकिक सामर्थ में चलने में

5. क्या आज भी प्रेरित हैं? (Are Apostles for Today?)

कई लोग सोचते हैं कि प्रेरितों की सेवकाई केवल 12 चेलों तक सीमित थी।
लेकिन बाइबल अन्य प्रेरितों का उल्लेख करती है—पौलुस, बरनाबास, तीमुथियुस, तीतुस, सीलास, अंद्रोनिकुस, यूनीयास।

और इफिसियों 4:11-13 कहता है कि यह सेवकाई तब तक दी गई है जब तक कलीसिया एकता और परिपक्वता तक न पहुँचे।

क्योंकि कलीसिया अभी उस स्तर तक नहीं पहुँची—

इसलिए प्रेरित आज भी आवश्यक हैं।

6. निष्कर्ष (Conclusion)

प्रेरित परमेश्वर का भेजा हुआ सेवक है जो—

नींव रखता है

निर्माण करता है

दृष्टि देता है

राष्ट्रों को प्रभावित करता है

सामर्थ में चलता है

कलीसिया तब मज़बूत होती है जब प्रेरिती सेवकाई सक्रिय होती है।

प्रार्थना (Prayer)

हे प्रभु, हमें प्रेरितों की सेवकाई को पहचानने और ग्रहण करने की सामर्थ दे। अपनी कलीसिया में सच्चे प्रेरितों को उठाने और अपने राज्य को आगे बढ़ाने में हमारी सहायता कर। यीशु के नाम में — आमीन।
