The Ministry of the Holy Spirit On the Day of Pentecost and After (Acts 2:1-21) When the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost, there were certain supernatural manifestations that marked the beginning of His ministry in church age. The 120 disciples were in the Upper Room and in accord with one another. 1) The first supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit on this occasion was for the ear-“There came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting” (v.2) . It was for the ear, not the eye. The Scripture emphasize the importance of hearing God’s Word (Roman 10:17) . The risen Saviour sent letters to the seven churches in Asia Minor and closed each message with the words, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit [the Holy Spirit] say to the churches” (Revelation 2 and 3) .
