“Unless the Lord Builds…” Text: Psalm 127:1–5 Introduction: We live in a world that glorifies hard work , self-reliance , and ambition . While diligence is good, Psalm 127 reminds us that human effort without God's involvement is ultimately in vain . Whether we’re building a business, a family, or a future, we must build with God, not just for God . Main Points: 1. God is the Foundation of All Fruitful Labor (v.1) "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain..." Building the house = could mean physical home, family, career, or ministry. God is not against work—but He wants us to work with Him , not without Him. Even watchmen , who stay up all night for protection, are ineffective if the Lord is not guarding the city. A Sincere Offering Main Text: Mark 12:41–44 – The Widow’s Offering Introduction We live in a world where value is often measured by quantity — how much we give, how much we do, how much we own. But God’s kingdom operates on a different principle. Today, we will explore what it means to bring a sincere offering before the Lord — not one measured by size, but by heart. 1. God Sees the Heart, Not Just the Hands "Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts." – Mark 12:41 People were giving visibly and generously. Yet Jesus wasn’t impressed by the quantity.
