DON’T TAKE ONE VERSE — UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE WORD Key Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God… rightly dividing the word of truth.” Introduction Church, one of the dangers today is not that people don't read the Bible. The danger is that people read the Bible without understanding the Bible. Sometimes we take one verse, put it on a WhatsApp status, build an entire teaching around it, and say, “The Bible says…” But the question is: What did the Bible actually mean when it said it? A verse is like one piece of a puzzle. One piece is important, but one piece is not the whole picture. We need to read the verse, the paragraph, the chapter, the book, and understand the situation. Before we say, “The Bible says this,” we should ask: Who said it? Who was it said to? Why was it said? What happened before it? What happened afterward? GOD LOOKS AT THE HEART, NOT THE WALLET Main Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:7 “People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” Introduction Church, today I want to share something very simple but very important: Money does not tell us whether a person is spiritual or not. A person can have money and still have a humble heart. A person can have very little money and still have a proud heart. Money is like clothing. Clothes can tell us something about what we are wearing, but clothes cannot tell us what is inside our heart. In the same way, money can tell us something about our financial condition, but money cannot tell us the spiritual condition of our heart. Only God truly knows the heart. 1.
