Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” Some people try to combine yoga with Christianity , calling it "Jesus Yoga" or "Christian Yoga." However, this is problematic because yoga’s foundations are deeply rooted in Hinduism and Eastern spirituality . Let’s examine why “Jesus Yoga” is not a biblical practice. 1. Here’s why yoga is not good for a believer’s spiritual life: 1. Yoga Has Hindu Spiritual Roots Exodus 20:3 – “You shall have no other gods before Me.” The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj , meaning “to unite” —not with the God of the Bible, but with the Hindu concept of divinity . Yoga was developed as a Hindu spiritual practice to awaken the “divine” within, which contradicts the Christian belief that only Jesus is Lord .
