The Ministry of the Holy Spirit On the 

Day of Pentecost and After

(Acts 2:1-21)

When the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost, there were certain supernatural manifestations that marked the beginning of His ministry in church age. The 120 disciples were in the Upper Room and in accord with one another.

1)    The first supernatural manifestation   of the Holy Spirit on this occasion was for the ear-“There came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting” (v.2). It was for the ear, not the eye. The Scripture emphasize the importance of hearing God’s Word (Roman 10:17). The risen Saviour sent letters to the seven churches in Asia Minor and closed each message with the words, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit [the Holy Spirit] say to the churches” (Revelation 2 and 3).

The sound was of hurricane force, without physical power. They could hear the wind, but did not feel its force. This lesson simple but profound: The Holy Spirit is sovereign. He moves and does what He wills (John 3:8). He does not conform to the will or expectations of man. Even though there was no physical power, however, this rushing mighty wind was filled with spiritual power. The Holy Spirit, with Pentecostal power, move the Upper Room congregation  from their place of worship into the city streets and into the temple, to witness and share their faith in holy boldness (Acts 4:13).

                               

2)    The second supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit was for the tongue-“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them” (v.3). This was the cleansing of the tongue in preparation for the witnessing (Is.6:-8; James 3:5-10).

3)    The third supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit was for witnessing power (Acts 1:8). And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (v.4). All of the 120 disciples were chosen by the Holy Spirit to witness in languages unknown to them, but not unknown to the hearers (vv.7, 8). They witnessed in the power of the Holy Spirit and prepared the people for Simon Peter’s message. This was great miracle. People from many nations heard the Upper Room congregation share their faith in the language of the hearers. Verse 6 implies that when Peter preached in his language, each one heard him in his own language (vv. 6-36). It is no wonder that about three thousand who heard the gospel in their own language believed it in their hearts, repented of their sins, and were baptized and added to the church (vv.37-42).

Note that the Upper Room congregation, filled with the Spirit, went to the temple and there exalted Christ, not their Pentecostal experience. They were filled with the Holy Spirit to tell the lost how to be saved (Acts 1:8)

1) इस अवसर पर पवित्र आत्मा का पहला अलौकिक प्रकटन कान के लिए था- "स्वर्ग से एक आवाज़ आई, एक तेज़ हवा के रूप में और इसने पूरे घर को भर दिया जहाँ वे बैठे थे" (v.2) । यह कान के लिए था, आंख के लिए नहीं। पवित्रशास्त्र में परमेश्वर के वचन को सुनने के महत्व पर जोर दिया गया है (रोमियो 10: 17)। जी उठा हुवा उद्धारकर्ता ने एशिया माइनर में सात कलीसियाओं को पत्र भेजे और प्रत्येक संदेश को शब्दों के साथ बंद कर दिया, "जिसके पास कान है, उसे सुनने कि आत्मा [पवित्र आत्मा] कलीसियाओं को क्या कहता है" (प्रकाशितवाक्य 2 और 3) ।

ध्वनि भौतिक शक्ति के बिना, तूफान बल की थी। वे हवा के आवाज को सुन सकते थे, लेकिन इसके बल को महसूस नहीं किया। यह पाठ सरल है लेकिन इसमे गहराई है: पवित्र आत्मा संप्रभु है। वह जो करता चाहता है और वह वही करता है (यूहन्ना 3: 8) । वह मनुष्य की इच्छा या अपेक्षाओं के अनुरूप नहीं है। यद्यपि कोई भौतिक शक्ति नहीं थी, फिर भी, यह प्रचंड शक्तिशाली हवा आध्यात्मिक शक्ति से भरी हुई थी। पवित्र आत्मा, पेंटेकोस्टल शक्ति के साथ, ऊपरी कक्ष मण्डली को शहर की सड़कों और मंदिर में आराधना करने के लिए ले जाते हैं, पवित्र साहस में उनके विश्वास को देखने और साझा करने के लिए (प्रेरितों के काम 4:13) ।

2) पवित्र आत्मा का दूसरा अलौकिक प्रकटीकरण बोली के लिए था- "तब उन्हें अग्नि के रूप में विभाजित बोली दिखाई दी, और उनमें से प्रत्येक पर बैठ गया" (v.3) । यह गवाह की तैयारी में बोली की सफाई थी (यशायाह 6: -8; याकूब 3: 5-10) ।

3) पवित्र आत्मा की तीसरी अलौकिक अभिव्यक्ति शक्ति के साक्षी के लिए थी (प्रेरितों के काम 1: 8) । और वे सभी पवित्र आत्मा से भर गए और अन्य भाषा के साथ बोलना शुरू कर दिया, क्योंकि आत्मा ने उन्हें उच्चारण दिया था ”(v.4)। सभी 120 चेलों को पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा उनके लिए विभिन्न भाषाओं में गवाह के लिए चुना गया था, लेकिन सुनने वालो के लिए अज्ञात नहीं था (vv.7, 8)। उन्होंने पवित्र आत्मा की शक्ति देखी और लोगों को शिमोन पतरस के संदेश के लिए तैयार किया। यह बड़ा चमत्कार था। कई देशों के लोगों ने ऊपरी कक्ष मण्डली को श्रोताओं की भाषा में अपने विश्वास को सुना। पद्य 6 का तात्पर्य है कि जब पतरस ने अपनी भाषा में उपदेश दिया, तो प्रत्येक ने उसे अपनी भाषा में सुना (vv. 6-36) । यह कोई आश्चर्य नहीं है कि लगभग तीन हजार जिन्होंने अपनी भाषा में सुसमाचार सुना, उनके दिलों में यह विश्वास था, अपने पापों का पश्चाताप किया, और बपतिस्मा लिया और कलीसिया में जोड़ा गया (vv.37-42) ।

ध्यान दें कि ऊपरी कक्ष मण्डली, आत्मा से भरी हुई है, मंदिर में गई थी और वहाँ मसीह का प्रशंसा हुई, न कि उनके पेंटेकोस्टल का अनुभव। वे खोए हुए को बचाने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा से भरे हुए थे (प्रेरितों के काम 1: 8)
