“Prayer—A Two-Way Communication With God”

Text: Jeremiah 33:3
“Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

INTRODUCTION

Prayer is not a religious ritual or a duty to complete. Prayer is communication with God.
Just like any healthy relationship, communication must go both ways—we speak and we listen.

Many Christians think prayer is just talking to God: asking, pleading, and presenting requests. But God says in Jeremiah 33:3, when we call, He answers and He shows. That means God desires conversation, not monologue.

POINT 1: PRAYER IS CALLING ON GOD

God invites us: “Call unto Me.”
The first step in prayer is simply coming into His presence. When we pray, we acknowledge:

  • Our dependence on God

  • Our trust that He hears

  • Our desire to know His will

Psalm 145:18 — “The LORD is near to all who call upon Him.”

Example:
Just like a child calling their father when they need help, God wants us to call Him with a childlike heart.

POINT 2: GOD PROMISES TO ANSWER

“...and I will answer thee...”

God is not silent. He is a speaking God:

  • He answered Abraham

  • He answered Moses

  • He answered Hannah

  • He answered David

  • He answered Paul

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice.” (John 10:27)

But the problem is not that God is not speaking — the problem is that we are not listening.

Many people pray, then immediately rush away. We finish prayer, but we do not wait.

Communication = Talking + Listening

POINT 3: GOD WILL SHOW GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS

“...and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.”

God wants to reveal:

  • Direction for life

  • Hidden truths from His Word

  • Guidance in decisions

  • Solutions to problems

  • Strength in weakness

  • Hope in darkness

  • Dreams & purpose

When we listen, God shows us what we could never understand by ourselves.

Example:
Elijah prayed on Mount Horeb, and God did not speak in the wind, earthquake, or fire—but in a still small voice (1 Kings 19:12). Elijah only heard it when he was quiet.

HOW DOES GOD SPEAK TODAY?

  1. Through His Word

  2. Through the Holy Spirit inside us

  3. Through peace and conviction in the heart

  4. Through godly counsel

  5. Through circumstances

  6. Through visions, dreams, and prophetic word (biblically aligned)

But to hear God clearly, we must be still after prayer.

Psalm 46:10 — “Be still and know that I am God.”

APPLICATION

After you finish praying:

  • Stop

  • Be silent

  • Wait for God to speak

  • Write down what you sense from the Holy Spirit

Make prayer a conversation, not a one-way speech.

CONCLUSION

Prayer is not complete until we have listened.

We Call — He Answers — He Shows.
This week, change your prayer life:

  • Don’t just talk to God

  • Take time to listen

When we listen, God will show us great and mighty things.

CALL TO RESPONSE

Let us pray:
“Lord, teach us to listen. Open our spiritual ears. Speak to us, guide us, and reveal Your will. We desire not only to speak to You, but to hear Your voice. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

*“मुझे पुकार, और मैं तुझे उत्तर दूँगा और बड़ी-बड़ी और गूढ़ बातें बताऊँगा जिन्हें तू नहीं जानता।”

प्रस्तावना (INTRODUCTION)

प्रार्थना कोई धार्मिक रीति-रिवाज या दैनिक कर्तव्य नहीं है।
प्रार्थना परमेश्वर से संवाद (Communication) है।
जैसे किसी भी संबंध में बातचीत दो-तरफ़ा होती है, वैसे ही प्रार्थना में भी हम बोलते हैं और हम सुनते हैं।

अधिकतर लोग प्रार्थना को केवल माँगने या बोलने तक सीमित समझते हैं।
परन्तु परमेश्वर कहता है — “मुझे पुकारो, मैं उत्तर दूँगा और दिखाऊँगा।”
इसका अर्थ है कि प्रार्थना वार्तालाप है, अकेले बोलना नहीं।

बिंदु 1: प्रार्थना परमेश्वर को पुकारना है

पहला कदम है—परमेश्वर को पुकारना।
जब हम प्रार्थना करते हैं, हम यह स्वीकार करते हैं कि:

  • हम परमेश्वर पर निर्भर हैं

  • वह हमारी सुनता है

  • वह हमारी अगुवाई करेगा

भजन 145:18 — “यहोवा उन सब के निकट है जो उसको सत्य से पुकारते हैं।”

उदाहरण:
जैसे एक बच्चा अपने पिता को सहायता के लिए पुकारता है, वैसे ही परमेश्वर चाहता है कि हम उसे दिल से पुकारें।

बिंदु 2: परमेश्वर उत्तर देने वाला परमेश्वर है

“और मैं तुझे उत्तर दूँगा...”

परमेश्वर मौन परमेश्वर नहीं है।
वह बोलने वाला परमेश्वर है:

  • उसने अब्राहम की प्रार्थना सुनी

  • मूसा की सुनी

  • हन्ना की सुनी

  • दाऊद की सुनी

  • पौलुस की सुनी

यीशु ने कहा:
“मेरी भेड़ें मेरी आवाज़ सुनती हैं।” (यूहन्ना 10:27)

समस्या यह नहीं है कि परमेश्वर बोलता नहीं—
समस्या यह है कि हम सुनते नहीं।

हम प्रार्थना करते हैं और तुरंत भाग जाते हैं।
सुनने के लिए रुकते नहीं।

संचार = बोलना + सुनना

बिंदु 3: परमेश्वर महान और गूढ़ बातें दिखाता है

“और बड़ी-बड़ी और गूढ़ बातें बताऊँगा जिन्हें तू नहीं जानता।”

परमेश्वर दिखाना चाहता है:

  • जीवन की दिशा

  • उसके वचन की गहराई

  • निर्णयों में बुद्धि

  • समस्याओं के हल

  • निराशा में आशा

  • कमजोरी में सामर्थ

  • भविष्य और उद्देश्य

जब हम सुनते हैं, परमेश्वर वह प्रकट करता है जो हम स्वयं कभी नहीं समझ सकते।

उदाहरण:
एलिय्याह ने पर्वत पर प्रार्थना की।
परमेश्वर वायु, भूकंप या आग में नहीं बोला, परन्तु धीमी मंद आवाज़ में (1 राजा 19:12)।
एलिय्याह तभी सुन सका जब वह शांत हुआ।

आज परमेश्वर कैसे बोलता है?

  1. अपने वचन के द्वारा

  2. पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा

  3. मन में शांति या दृढ़ विश्वास के द्वारा

  4. धर्मी सलाह के द्वारा

  5. परिस्थितियों के द्वारा

  6. स्वप्न, दर्शन और भविष्यवाणी के द्वारा (वचन के अनुरूप)

परन्तु सुनने के लिए हमें शांत होना होगा।

भजन 46:10 — “चुप हो जाओ, और जान लो कि मैं ही परमेश्वर हूँ।”

व्यावहारिक अनुप्रयोग (Application)

प्रार्थना पूरी नहीं होती जब तक हम सुनते नहीं।

प्रार्थना के बाद:

  • कुछ क्षण शांत रहें

  • मन को स्थिर करें

  • परमेश्वर की आवाज़ की प्रतीक्षा करें

  • जो वह दिखाए उसे लिख लें

प्रार्थना को वार्तालाप बनाएँ, भाषण नहीं।

निष्कर्ष (CONCLUSION)

हम पुकारें — वह उत्तर दे — वह दिखाए।

इस सप्ताह अपनी प्रार्थना-जीवन बदलें:

  • सिर्फ बोलें नहीं

  • सुनें भी

  • स्थिर होकर प्रतीक्षा करें

जब हम सुनते हैं, परमेश्वर महान और अद्भुत बातें दिखाता है।

प्रार्थना (CLOSING PRAYER)

“हे प्रभु, हमें सुनना सिखा। हमारी आत्मिक कान खोल। हम केवल बोलने वाले नहीं, बल्कि सुनने वाले भी बनें। हमें मार्ग दिखा, अपनी इच्छा प्रकट कर। यीशु के नाम में, आमीन। ”
