“Trusting God Above All — Even in Marriage”
📖 Text: Jeremiah 17:5–7
Introduction
Jeremiah, the prophet, gives us a clear contrast:
“Cursed is the man that trusteth in man... Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord.”He shows us that where we put our trust determines what kind of life we experience — barren or fruitful.
Point 1: The Danger of Misplaced Trust (v.5–6)
“Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.”

Jeremiah doesn’t mean we shouldn’t trust people at all. He means we must not depend on them as our ultimate source of strength, comfort, or identity.

Sometimes, in marriage or family, we begin to think:“If only my husband changes, I’ll be happy.”“If my wife supports me, I’ll have peace.”But God says, “Do not make flesh your arm.”

When we depend on people more than on God, our hearts drift — slowly, quietly — from the One who is our true Source.

Verse 6 says such a person becomes like a shrub in the desert — alive, but dry… existing, but not thriving.
Point 2: The Blessing of God-Centered Trust (v.7)
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.”

To “trust in the Lord” means to lean your whole weight on Him — not on feelings, not on people, not on circumstances.

When our trust is in God, our hearts remain steady even when people fail us.

In marriage, this means:
-
We love and honor our spouse deeply — but we look to God for our strength, not them.
-
We pray together, listen to God together, and make Him the center of our home.

Our hope is not in what our spouse can do, but in what God can do through both of us.

Point 3: The Fruit of Deep Trust (v.8) (You can extend to this verse)
“He shall be like a tree planted by the waters…”

The one who trusts in God is like a tree whose roots go deep into living water — strong in drought, green in heat, and fruitful in every season.

Even when the marriage faces trials, storms, or misunderstandings, this person stays firm because their faith is rooted in God’s love.
Conclusion

Cursed is the life that depends on man.
-
Blessed is the life that depends on God.
If we trust God first — in our marriage, in our family, in our decisions — we will stand firm, fruitful, and unshaken.
Prayer
“Lord, forgive us for the times we’ve trusted people more than You. Teach us to lean on You first — in our homes, marriages, and relationships. Let our hearts be planted by Your living waters, so that even in dry seasons, we remain fruitful and full of peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
🌿 "मनुष्य पर नहीं, परमेश्वर पर भरोसा"
📖 यिर्मयाह 17:5–7
प्रस्तावना (Introduction)
यिर्मयाह नबी दो तरह के लोगों की तुलना करते हैं:
“जो मनुष्य पर भरोसा रखता है, वह शापित है... परन्तु जो यहोवा पर भरोसा रखता है, वह धन्य है।”
जहाँ हमारा भरोसा टिका है, वही तय करेगा कि हमारा जीवन सूखा रहेगा या फलवन्त।
पहला बिंदु: गलत स्थान पर भरोसे का खतरा (पद 5–6)
“यहोवा यों कहता है: जो मनुष्य पर भरोसा रखता है और शरीर को अपना सहारा बनाता है, और जिसका हृदय यहोवा से दूर हो जाता है, वह शापित है।”

यहाँ परमेश्वर यह नहीं कह रहा कि हम किसी पर कभी भी भरोसा न करें —बल्कि यह चेतावनी है कि हम अपना मुख्य सहारा किसी इंसान को न बनाएं।

कई बार पति-पत्नी के रिश्ते में भी ऐसा होता है कि हम सोचते हैं —“अगर मेरा पति/पत्नी सब ठीक करे तो मैं खुश रहूँगा।”परन्तु परमेश्वर कहता है, “शरीर को अपना बाँह (strength) मत बना।”

जब हम इंसानों पर निर्भर होने लगते हैं, तो हमारा हृदय धीरे-धीरे परमेश्वर से दूर हो जाता है।

पद 6 कहता है कि ऐसा व्यक्ति मरुभूमि के झाड़ के समान होगा — जीवित तो है, परन्तु सूखा, फलहीन, और अकेला।
दूसरा बिंदु: परमेश्वर-केंद्रित भरोसे का आशीर्वाद (पद 7)
“धन्य है वह मनुष्य जो यहोवा पर भरोसा रखता है, और जिसकी आशा यहोवा ही है।”

“यहोवा पर भरोसा रखना” का अर्थ है —अपने पूरे अस्तित्व का भार उसी पर डाल देना।

जब हमारा भरोसा परमेश्वर पर होता है, तो हम डगमगाते नहीं, चाहे लोग हमें निराश करें।

विवाह में इसका अर्थ यह है कि:

हम अपने जीवनसाथी से प्रेम करते हैं, परन्तु बल और शान्ति परमेश्वर से लेते हैं।
-
हम साथ-साथ प्रार्थना करते हैं, और हर निर्णय में परमेश्वर को केन्द्र में रखते हैं।
-
हमारी आशा किसी व्यक्ति में नहीं, बल्कि परमेश्वर के वचनों में होती है।

तीसरा बिंदु: सच्चे भरोसे का फल (पद 8)
“वह उस वृक्ष के समान होगा जो जल के पास लगाया गया हो...”

जो व्यक्ति परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखता है, वह जलधारा के पास लगे वृक्ष के समान होता है —जिसकी जड़ें गहरी हैं, जो कठिन समय में भी हरा-भरा रहता है, और हर मौसम में फल देता है।

पति-पत्नी के जीवन में यदि परमेश्वर पर भरोसा है, तो उनका प्रेम कभी सूखता नहीं।क्योंकि उनका स्रोत एक-दूसरे में नहीं, बल्कि जीवित जल के स्रोत — परमेश्वर में है।
निष्कर्ष (Conclusion)

जो मनुष्य पर भरोसा रखता है — वह शापित है।

जो यहोवा पर भरोसा रखता है — वह धन्य है।
प्रार्थना (Prayer)
“हे प्रभु, हमें क्षमा कर जब हमने मनुष्यों पर भरोसा किया और तुझ पर नहीं।हमारे हृदयों को फिर से अपनी ओर लौटा।हमें ऐसा जीवन दे जो तेरे जल-स्रोतों के पास लगाया हुआ वृक्ष बने — हरा-भरा, फलवन्त, और स्थिर।हमारे विवाहों को और हमारे परिवारों को तेरे भरोसे पर खड़ा कर।यीशु मसीह के नाम में हम प्रार्थना करते हैं।आमीन।”
