WHEN GOD’S FAVOR BRINGS CHALLENGES
WHEN GOD’S FAVOR BRINGS CHALLENGES
📖 Luke 1:28 – "Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!"
INTRODUCTION
Many people think that when God favors someone, their life will become easy. But the Bible shows that God’s favor often brings challenges before blessings are fully revealed. Today, we will look at the lives of those who were favored by God yet faced great struggles—Mary, Joseph, Moses, and even Jesus Himself.
1. MARY: GOD’S FAVOR BROUGHT MISUNDERSTANDING
📖 Luke 1:28 – "O favored one, the Lord is with you!"
🔹 Mary was highly favored, yet this favor led to hardships:
- She was an unmarried virgin, yet pregnant—a situation that could bring shame and rejection.
- Joseph planned to leave her quietly (Matthew 1:19).
- She had to flee to Egypt to protect baby Jesus (Matthew 2:13-14).
✅ Lesson: Sometimes, God’s favor places us in difficult situations, but He is always with us.
2. JOSEPH: GOD’S FAVOR BROUGHT BETRAYAL
📖 Genesis 39:21 – "But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison."
🔹 Joseph was favored with dreams of greatness, but he faced:
- Hatred and betrayal by his own brothers (Genesis 37:28).
- False accusation and imprisonment (Genesis 39:20).
- Years of waiting before seeing God’s promise fulfilled.
✅ Lesson: Favor does not mean immediate success—there may be a period of testing before promotion.
3. MOSES: GOD’S FAVOR BROUGHT REJECTION
📖 Exodus 3:10 – "I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people out of Egypt."
🔹 Moses was chosen to deliver Israel, but he faced:
- Rejection by his own people (Exodus 2:14).
- Resistance from Pharaoh (Exodus 5:2).
- Complaints from the Israelites in the wilderness.
✅ Lesson: Leadership and calling come with opposition, but God’s power will sustain us.
4. JESUS: GOD’S FAVOR LED TO THE CROSS
📖 Luke 2:52 – "And Jesus increased in wisdom and in favor with God and man."
🔹 Jesus, though highly favored, suffered:
- Persecution from religious leaders.
- Betrayal by Judas.
- Crucifixion on the cross.
✅ Lesson: God’s greatest favor is not in earthly comfort but in eternal glory.
WHY DOES GOD’S FAVOR BRING TROUBLE?
- Testing Strengthens Us – Hard times prepare us for greater blessings.
- The Enemy Attacks Those with Purpose – Satan tries to stop those chosen by God.
- Glory Comes After Suffering – Just like Jesus, we must go through trials before victory.
HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND?
✅ Trust God’s Plan – Even when favor brings hardship, God is in control.
✅ Stay Faithful – Like Joseph and Mary, keep obeying even in trials.
✅ Expect Greater Blessings – After every trial, God’s reward comes (James 1:12).
CONCLUSION
Being favored by God does not mean a trouble-free life. Instead, it means we are part of a divine plan. Mary, Joseph, Moses, and Jesus all faced trials, but God was with them. No matter the struggles you face, God’s favor will bring ultimate victory!
📢 Call to Action: Are you facing struggles despite seeking God? Stay faithful, trust His plan, and know that His favor is preparing you for something greater!
