Comparison is the Enemy of Covenant
“Comparison is the Enemy of Covenant”
Main Text: 📖 Galatians 6:4
“…without comparing themselves to someone else.”
🌿 Introduction
In many homes today, there is a silent problem—comparison.
Comparing husband with brother
Comparing with relatives
Comparing with someone from the past
At first, it looks small… but slowly, it brings pain into the marriage.
👉 Today, God is speaking:
“Stop comparing. Start building.”
💔 1. Comparison Creates Wounds
📖 Proverbs 12:18
“Reckless words pierce like a sword…”
When a wife says:
“Look at my brother…”
“Look at others…”
It may look like a simple sentence—but to a husband, it feels like:
“You are not enough”
“You are less than others”
👉 Words of comparison become wounds in the heart.
🌱 2. God Did Not Create You to Compare
📖 2 Corinthians 10:12
God never created one man to copy another.
Your husband is not your brother
He is not your past
He is not another family
👉 He is your husband, chosen for your life.
👑 3. Outward Life is Not the Full Truth
📖 1 Samuel 16:7
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Sometimes we say:
“They are happy”
“Their life is better”
But what we see is only the outside.
👉 Every home has hidden struggles.
Lesson: Don’t compare your real life with someone else’s visible life.
🔥 4. A Wise Woman Builds, Not Compares
📖 Proverbs 14:1
“The wise woman builds her house…”
Let us remember:
👑 Abigail
Her husband was not perfect
But she acted with wisdom and peace
She protected her home instead of complaining
👉 A wise woman does not say,
“Why are you not like others?”
She says,
“Let us grow together.”
❤️ 5. Words Can Break or Strengthen a Man
📖 Ephesians 4:29
A husband may be:
Struggling financially
Trying his best
Fighting silent battles
And when he hears comparison, his strength becomes weaker.
👉 But when he hears encouragement, his strength grows.
🌾 6. Marriage is a Journey, Not a Competition
📖 Hebrews 13:4
Marriage is not:
A race with others
A comparison with other families
👉 It is a journey of two people growing together.
Some seasons are hard.
Some seasons are blessed.
But God honors those who stay faithful.
🌼 Conclusion
Dear sisters,
Comparison will never build your home.
Instead choose:
Encouragement over criticism
Understanding over comparison
Patience over pressure
👉 Speak life into your husband—and you will see change.
🙏 Closing Prayer
“Lord, remove every spirit of comparison from our hearts. Teach us to value what You have given us. Help wives to build their homes with wisdom and love. Strengthen every husband who is trying his best. Let peace and understanding grow in every marriage. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
