What Is Success If God Says – Psalm 127:1

Text: “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” — Psalm 127:1

Introduction:

Everyone wants success — in family, business, ministry, or leadership.
But the Bible gives us a sobering reminder:

“Unless the Lord builds…”

In other words — if God is not in it, all our effort is empty.
This Psalm teaches that real success is not about what we build, but who builds with us.
True success is doing God’s will, in God’s way, with God’s help, for God’s glory.

1. Success Without God Is Empty

“They labor in vain who build it…”

We can build many things — houses, ministries, businesses — yet still miss God’s heart.
When God’s blessing is absent, no amount of human effort can fill that emptiness.

Example: The Tower of Babel (Genesis 11)
They said, “Let us make a name for ourselves.”
They built something tall, but not something true.
And it collapsed because it was built without God.

👉 Lesson: You can build something great without God, but you cannot make it last without Him.

2. True Success Begins When God Builds

“Unless the Lord builds the house…”

Let’s see how some great men of God found success only because God built their lives:

a. David — Success Through Surrender

David was anointed as king, but his success wasn’t in his crown — it was in his heart for God.
He didn’t build his kingdom by ambition, but by trusting God’s timing.
He waited patiently while Saul chased him. He refused to take matters into his own hands.

And later, when he wanted to build God’s house, the Lord said, “No, your son will build it.”
David accepted it humbly.

👉 Lesson: True success is not forcing your plan, but surrendering to God’s plan.

b. Job — Success Through Faithfulness

Job had everything — wealth, health, family — and lost it all.
But Job’s success was not in what he had, but in who he trusted.
He said, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

When God restored him, it was not just double possessions — it was double revelation.
Job learned that success is not the absence of suffering, but the presence of faith.

👉 Lesson: True success is remaining faithful when everything falls apart.

c. Joshua — Success Through Obedience

In Joshua 1:8, God told him the secret:

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth… for then you will make your way prosperous and you will have good success.”

Joshua’s success wasn’t in military strength, but in daily obedience to God’s Word.
Every victory — from Jericho to Ai — came when he followed divine instruction.
Even the walls of Jericho fell, not by might, but by obedient faith.

👉 Lesson: True success is hearing and obeying God’s Word, even when it doesn’t make sense.

d. Joseph — Success Through Integrity

Joseph was called successful even in prison because “the Lord was with him” (Genesis 39:2–3).
He succeeded not because of position, but because of presence.
He refused sin in Potiphar’s house, endured injustice, and stayed faithful.
When the time was right, God raised him to power.

Joseph’s journey shows that success is not instant — it’s God’s process of preparation.

👉 Lesson: True success is staying pure and patient until God’s promise unfolds.

3. God Not Only Builds — He Guards

“Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”

Even when you reach success, you need God’s protection.
David needed God to guard his throne.
Job needed God to restore and protect his household.
Joshua needed God to guard Israel from pride after victory.
Joseph needed God to guard his heart in power.

No human strength can sustain what only God can protect.

👉 Lesson: We must depend on God not only to reach success, but to remain in it.

4. What Is True Success?

According to Psalm 127:1 —

  • It’s not what we build, but what God builds through us.

  • It’s not what we achieve, but how much we align with God’s will.

  • It’s not how fast we rise, but how deeply we walk with Him.

True success is:

Doing God’s will,
In God’s way,
With God’s help,
For God’s glory.

Conclusion:

Beloved, if God is not the builder, our work is empty.
But if God is the builder, even small beginnings become eternal.

Let’s learn from these men:

  • Like David, surrender your plans.

  • Like Job, stay faithful in pain.

  • Like Joshua, obey the Word.

  • Like Joseph, keep integrity in every season.

Then you will not just build something great — you will build something God blesses.

Closing Prayer:

“Lord, teach us that without You, we labor in vain.
Be the builder of our house, the guard of our city, the guide of our steps.
Give us hearts like David, faith like Job, obedience like Joshua, and purity like Joseph.
Make our success eternal, rooted in You alone.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”


यदि परमेश्वर न कहे तो सफलता क्या है – भजन संहिता 127:1

पाठ:
“यदि यहोवा घर न बनाए, तो बनाने वालों का परिश्रम व्यर्थ होता है;
यदि यहोवा नगर की रक्षा न करे, तो पहरेदार का पहरा देना व्यर्थ होता है।” — भजन संहिता 127:1

भूमिका:

हर व्यक्ति सफलता चाहता है — परिवार में, व्यवसाय में, सेवा में, या नेतृत्व में।
परंतु बाइबल एक गंभीर सत्य की याद दिलाती है:

“यदि यहोवा न बनाए…”

अर्थात — यदि परमेश्वर इसमें नहीं है, तो हमारा सारा प्रयास खाली है।
यह भजन हमें सिखाता है कि सच्ची सफलता इस बात में नहीं है कि हम क्या बना रहे हैं,
बल्कि इस बात में है कि हमारे साथ कौन बना रहा है।

सच्ची सफलता है — परमेश्वर की इच्छा को, परमेश्वर के तरीके से,
परमेश्वर की सहायता से, परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिए करना।

1. परमेश्वर के बिना सफलता व्यर्थ है

“वे व्यर्थ परिश्रम करते हैं जो बनाते हैं…”

हम बहुत कुछ बना सकते हैं — घर, सेवकाई, व्यवसाय —
फिर भी परमेश्वर का हृदय खो सकते हैं।
जब परमेश्वर की आशीष नहीं होती, तो कोई भी मानवीय प्रयास उस खालीपन को नहीं भर सकता।

उदाहरण: बाबेल का गुम्मट (उत्पत्ति 11)
उन्होंने कहा, “आओ, हम अपने लिए नाम करें।”
उन्होंने ऊँचा बनाया, परंतु सच्चा नहीं।
और वह ढह गया, क्योंकि वह परमेश्वर के बिना बनाया गया था।

👉 पाठ: आप परमेश्वर के बिना कुछ बड़ा बना सकते हैं,
परंतु उसे स्थायी नहीं बना सकते।

2. सच्ची सफलता तब शुरू होती है जब परमेश्वर बनाता है

“यदि यहोवा घर न बनाए…”

आइए देखें कि परमेश्वर के कुछ महान पुरुषों का जीवन कैसे सफल हुआ:

a. दाऊद — समर्पण के द्वारा सफलता

दाऊद का सफलता का रहस्य उसका सिंहासन नहीं, उसका हृदय था।
वह महत्वाकांक्षा से नहीं, बल्कि परमेश्वर के समय पर भरोसा करके राजा बना।

सौल जब उसका पीछा कर रहा था, तब भी उसने अपनी योजना खुद से पूरी नहीं की।
और बाद में जब वह परमेश्वर का घर बनाना चाहता था, तब भगवान ने कहा —
“नहीं, तेरा पुत्र इसे बनाएगा।”
दाऊद ने विनम्रता से स्वीकार किया।

👉 पाठ: सच्ची सफलता अपनी योजना को जबरदस्ती पूरा करने में नहीं,
बल्कि परमेश्वर की योजना को समर्पित होने में है।

b. अय्यूब — विश्वासयोग्यता के द्वारा सफलता

अय्यूब के पास सब कुछ था — धन, स्वास्थ्य, परिवार — और उसने सब खो दिया।
परंतु उसकी सफलता उसकी संपत्ति में नहीं,
उसके विश्वास में थी।

उसने कहा:
“यहोवा ने दिया और यहोवा ने ले लिया;
यहोवा का नाम धन्य हो।”

जब परमेश्वर ने उसे पुनःस्थापित किया,
तो उसे केवल दोगुनी संपत्ति नहीं मिली —
बल्कि दोगुना प्रकाशन मिला।

👉 पाठ: सच्ची सफलता दुखों का न होना नहीं,
बल्कि दुखों में भी विश्वास बनाए रखना है।

c. यहोशू — आज्ञाकारिता के द्वारा सफलता

यहोशू 1:8 में परमेश्वर ने सफलता का रहस्य बताया:

“तू दिन और रात मेरी व्यवस्था का ध्यान करना… तब तू सफल होगा।”

यहोशू की सफलता उसकी सेना में नहीं,
बल्कि दैनिक आज्ञाकारिता में थी।

यरीहो से लेकर ऐ तक —
हर विजय दैवी निर्देश का पालन करने से मिली।
यरीहो की दीवारें बल से नहीं,
आज्ञाकारी विश्वास से गिरीं।

👉 पाठ: सच्ची सफलता परमेश्वर के वचन को सुनने और मानने में है —
भले ही वह समझ में न आए।

d. यूसुफ — शुद्धता और धैर्य के द्वारा सफलता

यूसुफ को कारागार में भी सफल कहा गया, क्योंकि —
“यहोवा उसके साथ था” (उत्पत्ति 39:2–3)

उसकी सफलता पद में नहीं,
उपस्थिति में थी।
उसने पाप से इंकार किया, अन्याय सहा, पर विश्वासयोग्य रहा।
और जब समय पूरा हुआ,
परमेश्वर ने उसे ऊँचा उठाया।

👉 पाठ: सच्ची सफलता है —
शुद्ध बने रहना और धैर्य रखना,
जब तक परमेश्वर अपनी प्रतिज्ञा पूरी न करे।

3. परमेश्वर केवल बनाता नहीं — वह रक्षा भी करता है

“यदि यहोवा नगर की रक्षा न करे, तो पहरेदार जागता व्यर्थ है।”

सफलता मिलने के बाद भी हमें परमेश्वर की सुरक्षा चाहिए।

  • दाऊद को अपने सिंहासन की रक्षा चाहिए थी।

  • अय्यूब को अपने परिवार की पुनर्स्थापना और सुरक्षा चाहिए थी।

  • यहोशू को विजय के बाद घमंड से बचाव चाहिए था।

  • यूसुफ को शक्ति के स्थान पर अपने हृदय की रक्षा चाहिए थी।

कोई भी मानवीय शक्ति उसकी रक्षा नहीं कर सकती
जिसे केवल परमेश्वर ही संभाल सकता है।

👉 पाठ: हमें केवल सफलता पाने के लिए ही नहीं,
बल्कि सफलता में टिके रहने के लिए भी परमेश्वर पर निर्भर रहना है।

4. सच्ची सफलता क्या है?

भजन संहिता 127:1 के अनुसार —

  • यह नहीं कि हम क्या बनाते हैं,
    बल्कि परमेश्वर हमारे द्वारा क्या बनाता है।

  • यह नहीं कि हम क्या प्राप्त करते हैं,
    बल्कि हम कितने परमेश्वर की इच्छा में हैं।

  • यह नहीं कि हम कितनी जल्दी ऊपर उठते हैं,
    बल्कि हम परमेश्वर के साथ कितनी गहराई से चलते हैं।

सच्ची सफलता है:

  • परमेश्वर की इच्छा करना

  • परमेश्वर के तरीके से

  • परमेश्वर की सहायता से

  • परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिए

निष्कर्ष:

प्यारे लोगो,
यदि परमेश्वर निर्माता नहीं है,
तो हमारा काम व्यर्थ है।

पर यदि परमेश्वर निर्माता है,
तो छोटी शुरुआत भी अनन्त फल देती है।

आइए इन पुरुषों से सीखें:

  • दाऊद की तरह अपनी योजनाएँ समर्पित करें।

  • अय्यूब की तरह दुख में भी विश्वास बनाए रखें।

  • यहोशू की तरह वचन का पालन करें।

  • यूसुफ की तरह हर मौसम में शुद्ध और धैर्यवान रहें।

तब आप केवल कुछ बड़ा नहीं बनाएंगे —
आप कुछ ऐसा बनाएंगे जिसे परमेश्वर आशीष देगा।

समापन प्रार्थना:

“हे प्रभु, हमें सिखा कि तेरे बिना हमारा प्रत्येक परिश्रम व्यर्थ है।
हमारे घर का तू ही निर्माता बन,
हमारे नगर का तू ही रक्षक,
और हमारे कदमों का तू ही मार्गदर्शक।

हमें दाऊद जैसा हृदय दे,
अय्यूब जैसा विश्वास,
यहोशू जैसी आज्ञाकारिता,
और यूसुफ जैसी पवित्रता दे।

हमारी सफलता को अनन्त और तुझ में जड़ित बना।
यीशु के नाम में — आमीन।
