When God Builds the House
When God Builds the House Psalm 127:1
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Introduction:
* Every one of us is *building something* — a home, a marriage, a family, a ministry, a future.
* But the real question is: **Who is the builder?**
* If God is not the foundation and architect, no amount of effort or planning will stand the test of time.
* Psalm 127 reminds us: *Without the Lord, all our labour is in vain.*
1️⃣ God Must Be the Foundation (Relationship with God)
Our first and greatest relationship is with God Himself.
Everything begins here.
* When we neglect our fellowship with God — prayer, Word, obedience — we lose direction in every other area.
* Ephesians 5:26 says Christ cleanses His Church “by the washing of water by the Word.”
* His Word keeps us pure, aligned, and wise.
🕊 **Key Thought:** If God is not first in your heart, nothing else can stay in order.
2️⃣ God’s Order in Relationships
When God builds, He works according to divine order.
Let’s look at five key relationships — and what happens when we disorder them:
#### a. **My Relationship with God**
– This is the root of every other relationship.
– Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33).
– If this is weak, everything else wobbles.
#### b. **My Relationship with My Husband/Wife**
– Marriage is a reflection of Christ and the Church.
– When love, respect, and spiritual unity exist, the home becomes a sanctuary.
– When this bond breaks, peace leaves the home.
#### c. **My Relationship with My Children**
– Children learn about God by watching their parents.
– A godly marriage gives them a picture of love, truth, and forgiveness.
– Psalm 127:3 calls children “a heritage of the Lord.”
#### d. **My Relationship with My Parents**
– Honouring parents brings blessing (Ephesians 6:2–3).
– It teaches humility, gratitude, and continuity of faith.
#### e. **My Relationship with My Ministry**
– Ministry must flow from a heart right with God and family.
– If we neglect our home while serving others, our labour becomes hollow.
– Ministry is not a replacement for relationship — it is an overflow of it.
🕊 **Truth:** Disorder in any of these relationships brings confusion, frustration, and spiritual dryness.

### **3️⃣ The Blessing of Divine Order**
* When the Lord builds, He gives peace, protection, and purpose.
* Verse 2 of Psalm 127 says, *“He gives His beloved sleep.”*
That means rest — not laziness, but assurance that God is in control.
* Ephesians 5:27 says Christ will present His Church “without spot or wrinkle.”
That is God’s vision — a pure, strong, beautiful house.
---
### **Conclusion:**
When we allow **God to build the house**,
* Our marriages reflect His love.
* Our children grow in His truth.
* Our ministries bear lasting fruit.
* Our hearts live in peace.
But if we build without Him, we only build *temporary walls* that time and trouble will destroy.
So let’s pray:
> “Lord, be the Builder of my house — my heart, my home, my ministry.
> Let everything in my life be built on You and for You.”
