Children Are a Heritage from God


Scripture: Psalm 127:3 – “Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”

Introduction

Good morning, church!
Today we’re looking at a verse that touches every family, every parent, every child — even those who may not have children of their own, because it speaks about how God sees life itself.

Psalm 127:3 says:

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”

Now that’s a powerful statement.
In a world where people often measure success by money, status, or possessions, God reminds us: true heritage is not what we build, but who we raise.

Children are not accidents — they are assignments from God.
They are not interruptions — they are investments.
They are not our property — they are His precious gift.

1. Children Belong to God First

Before a child ever belongs to a mother or father, that child belongs to God.

In Genesis 2:7, the Bible says:

“The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.”

Every breath a child takes is God’s breath. Every heartbeat is God’s creation.

When Hannah prayed for a son and God gave her Samuel, she said in 1 Samuel 1:27–28,

“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition… therefore I have also lent him to the Lord.”

Hannah understood something very important — that her child was not hers to own, but God’s to steward.
Parents, your children are not just yours — they’re on loan from heaven.
God trusts you to raise them for His purpose.

2. Children Are a Reward, Not a Burden

The world sometimes looks at children as a burden — expensive, noisy, and time-consuming.
But the Bible calls them a reward.

Psalm 127 doesn’t say “children are a problem to solve” — it says “they are a blessing to celebrate.”

Think of it:

  • When a baby cries at night, God is giving you a chance to show patience.

  • When your teenager asks tough questions, God is giving you a chance to show wisdom.

  • When your child makes mistakes, God is giving you a chance to show grace — the same grace He gives us every day.

Each child brings a piece of God’s joy and creativity into the world.
They carry His image, His promise, and His potential.

3. Parents Have a Sacred Assignment

If children are God’s heritage, then parents are God’s caretakers.
He gives us the gift, and He expects us to handle it with faithfulness.

Proverbs 22:6 says:

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

That means parenting is not just about feeding and schooling — it’s about spiritual formation.
It’s about shaping hearts that love God.

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 says:

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road.”

Parents, you are the first pastors your children will ever know.
They learn faith not just from Sunday school — but from watching how you pray, how you forgive, how you love.
What they see in you today is what they will reflect tomorrow.

4. The Church’s Role in Raising the Next Generation

Raising godly children is not just a family’s duty — it’s the church’s mission.

When we dedicate a child, when we run Sunday school, when we invest in youth ministry, we’re saying:
“We believe in the next generation.”

Jesus said in Mark 10:14,

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

When the church values its children, it values its future.
If we lose the next generation, we lose our legacy.
But if we raise them in Christ, we extend God’s kingdom far beyond our lifetime.

5. Our Legacy: Godly Generations

Psalm 127 continues in verse 4–5,

“Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”

Arrows are meant to fly farther than the one who shoots them.
That means our children are meant to go further than us — spiritually, morally, and missionally.

The best inheritance you can give your children is not land, not money, not business — but faith that endures.
Let your home be a place where the name of Jesus is spoken often, where prayers are said daily, where love and forgiveness are practiced freely.

Conclusion

Church, remember this:

  • Children are not our possession, they are God’s heritage.

  • Parenting is not a chore, it’s a calling.

  • The next generation is not a distraction, it’s our divine assignment.

May our homes be filled with the joy of children, and may our children be filled with the Spirit of God.
Because when we raise godly children, we raise a godly future.

Closing Prayer

“Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of children — a heritage from Your own heart.
Help every parent here to raise their children in Your ways.
Help every young person to honor their parents and walk in wisdom.
And help us as a church to nurture, teach, and love the next generation so that they may grow strong in faith and purpose.

परिचय (Introduction)

सुप्रभात कलीसिया!
आज हम एक ऐसे पद पर ध्यान कर रहे हैं जो हर परिवार, हर माता-पिता, हर बच्चे — और यहाँ तक कि उन लोगों को भी छूता है जिनके अपने बच्चे नहीं हैं — क्योंकि यह बताता है कि परमेश्वर स्वयं जीवन को कैसे देखता है।

भजन संहिता 127:3 कहती है:
“देखो, बच्चे यहोवा की ओर से विरासत हैं; गर्भ का फल उसकी ओर से प्रतिफल है।”

यह एक अत्यंत सामर्थी वचन है।
एक ऐसी दुनिया में जहाँ लोग सफलता को धन, पद या संपत्ति से मापते हैं, वहाँ परमेश्वर हमें स्मरण दिलाता है — सच्ची विरासत वह नहीं जो हम बनाते हैं, बल्कि वे हैं जिन्हें हम पालते हैं।

बच्चे दुर्घटना नहीं हैं — वे परमेश्वर की नियुक्ति (assignment) हैं।
वे व्यवधान नहीं हैं — वे निवेश (investment) हैं।
वे हमारी संपत्ति नहीं हैं — वे परमेश्वर का अनमोल उपहार हैं।

1. बच्चे सबसे पहले परमेश्वर के हैं

किसी बच्चे के माता या पिता का कहलाने से पहले ही वह बच्चा परमेश्वर का होता है।

उत्पत्ति 2:7 में लिखा है:
“तब यहोवा परमेश्वर ने भूमि की मिट्टी से मनुष्य को रचा, और उसके नथनों में जीवन का श्वास फूँका।”

हर सांस जो बच्चा लेता है, वह परमेश्वर का श्वास है। हर धड़कन उसकी सृष्टि है।

जब हन्ना ने पुत्र के लिए प्रार्थना की और परमेश्वर ने उसे शमूएल दिया, उसने कहा (1 शमूएल 1:27–28):
“इस बालक के लिये मैं ने प्रार्थना की थी, और यहोवा ने मेरी याचना को पूरी की... इसलिए मैं इसे यहोवा को अर्पित करती हूँ।”

हन्ना ने यह समझ लिया था कि बच्चा उसका स्वामित्व नहीं, बल्कि उसकी ज़िम्मेदारी है।
माता-पिता, आपके बच्चे आपके अपने नहीं — वे स्वर्ग से आपको धरोहर के रूप में सौंपे गए हैं।
परमेश्वर ने आप पर विश्वास किया है कि आप उन्हें उसके उद्देश्य के अनुसार पालेंगे।

2. बच्चे बोझ नहीं, पुरस्कार हैं

दुनिया अक्सर बच्चों को बोझ मानती है — महंगे, शोरगुल करने वाले, और समय लेने वाले।
पर बाइबल कहती है कि वे प्रतिफल हैं, आशीर्वाद हैं।

भजन 127 यह नहीं कहता “बच्चे समस्या हैं” — यह कहता है “वे आनंद का कारण हैं।”

सोचिए:

  • जब रात में बच्चा रोता है — परमेश्वर आपको धैर्य सिखा रहा है।

  • जब किशोर प्रश्न पूछता है — परमेश्वर आपको बुद्धि दिखाने का अवसर देता है।

  • जब बच्चा गलती करता है — परमेश्वर आपको अनुग्रह दिखाने का मौका देता है, वही अनुग्रह जो वह हमें हर दिन देता है।

हर बच्चा परमेश्वर की सृष्टि और उसकी खुशी का एक अंश लेकर आता है।
वे उसके स्वरूप, उसकी प्रतिज्ञा, और उसकी संभावना को लेकर इस संसार में आते हैं।

3. माता-पिता को एक पवित्र ज़िम्मेदारी दी गई है

यदि बच्चे परमेश्वर की विरासत हैं, तो माता-पिता उसके प्रबंधक (caretakers) हैं।
वह हमें उपहार देता है, और हमसे अपेक्षा रखता है कि हम उसे विश्वासयोग्यता से संभालें।

नीतिवचन 22:6 कहता है:
“लड़के को उसकी चाल पर आरंभ से शिक्षा दे, तब वह बुढ़ापे में भी उस से न हटेगा।”

इसका अर्थ है — पालन-पोषण केवल भोजन और शिक्षा तक सीमित नहीं है, यह आध्यात्मिक गठन (spiritual formation) है।
यह ऐसे दिलों को आकार देने का कार्य है जो परमेश्वर से प्रेम करें।

व्यवस्थाविवरण 6:6–7 कहता है:
“ये आज्ञाएँ जो मैं आज तुझ को देता हूँ, तेरे मन में बनी रहें; और तू उन्हें अपने बालकों को सिखा।”

माता-पिता, आप अपने बच्चों के पहले पास्टर हैं।
वे विश्वास केवल रविवार की कक्षा से नहीं सीखते — बल्कि यह देखकर सीखते हैं कि आप कैसे प्रार्थना करते हैं, कैसे क्षमा करते हैं, और कैसे प्रेम करते हैं।
जो वे आज आपमें देखते हैं, वही कल वे संसार में दिखाएंगे।

4. अगली पीढ़ी को उठाने में कलीसिया की भूमिका

धर्मी बच्चों को तैयार करना केवल परिवार का कार्य नहीं — कलीसिया का मिशन भी है।

जब हम किसी बच्चे को समर्पित करते हैं, जब हम संडे स्कूल चलाते हैं, जब हम युवा सेवकाई में निवेश करते हैं — हम यह घोषित करते हैं:
“हम अगली पीढ़ी में विश्वास करते हैं।”

यीशु ने मरकुस 10:14 में कहा:
“बालकों को मेरे पास आने दो, उन्हें मत रोको, क्योंकि ऐसे ही लोगों के लिये परमेश्वर का राज्य है।”

जब कलीसिया अपने बच्चों को सम्मान देती है, तो वह अपने भविष्य को सुरक्षित करती है।
यदि हम अगली पीढ़ी को खो देते हैं, तो हम अपनी विरासत खो देते हैं।
पर यदि हम उन्हें मसीह में उठाते हैं, तो हम परमेश्वर के राज्य को आगे बढ़ाते हैं।

5. हमारी परम्परा: परमेश्वरभक्त पीढ़ियाँ

भजन 127:4–5 कहता है:
“जैसे वीर के हाथ में तीर होते हैं, वैसे ही जवानी के बेटे होते हैं। वह मनुष्य धन्य है जिसकी तूनी उनसे भरी है।”

तीर इसलिए बनाए जाते हैं कि वे धनुर्धारी से भी आगे उड़ें।
इसका अर्थ है कि हमारे बच्चे हमसे आगे जाएँ — आत्मिक, नैतिक और मिशनरी दृष्टि से।

सबसे बड़ी विरासत जो आप अपने बच्चों को दे सकते हैं, वह ज़मीन या धन नहीं — बल्कि स्थायी विश्वास है।
आपका घर ऐसा स्थान बने जहाँ यीशु का नाम बार-बार लिया जाए, जहाँ प्रतिदिन प्रार्थना हो, और जहाँ प्रेम और क्षमा सहज रूप से बहती हो।

निष्कर्ष (Conclusion)

कलीसिया, स्मरण रखें:

  • बच्चे हमारी संपत्ति नहीं — वे परमेश्वर की विरासत हैं।

  • पालन-पोषण एक बोझ नहीं — यह एक बुलाहट (calling) है।

  • अगली पीढ़ी कोई ध्यान भंग करने वाली नहीं — यह हमारा दैवीय कार्य (divine assignment) है।

हमारे घर बच्चों की खुशी से भरें, और हमारे बच्चे परमेश्वर की आत्मा से भरें।
क्योंकि जब हम परमेश्वरभक्त बच्चों को उठाते हैं, तब हम एक परमेश्वरभक्त भविष्य का निर्माण करते हैं।

समापन प्रार्थना (Closing Prayer)

“हे स्वर्गीय पिता, हम तेरा धन्यवाद करते हैं कि तूने हमें बच्चों के रूप में अपनी विरासत दी है।
हर माता-पिता को सामर्थ दे कि वे अपने बच्चों को तेरे मार्ग में बढ़ाएँ।
हर युवा को ज्ञान और आज्ञाकारिता में चलना सिखा।
और हमारी कलीसिया को ऐसी बना कि वह अगली पीढ़ी को पोषित, सिखाए और प्रेम करे — ताकि वे विश्वास और उद्देश्य में दृढ़ हों।
हम यह सब यीशु मसीह के सामर्थी नाम में माँगते हैं। आमीन।”
