love is not optional

According to the Bible, love is not optional—it’s the very evidence of belonging to Christ. Jesus Himself said:

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)

If we don’t love each other, especially as believers, it shows that our hearts may not truly belong to Him. 1 John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

So, if the rapture takes place and someone has lived without love—harboring hatred, bitterness, or selfishness—it could be a sign they were never truly walking in Christ. The rapture gathers those who belong to Him, those washed by His blood and marked by His Spirit, and the Spirit produces love as the first fruit (Galatians 5:22).

In other words:

  • If we have Christ, His love will flow through us, even if imperfectly.

  • If we reject love, we may be showing that we never truly belonged to Him.

So the real danger is that those who do not walk in love may be left behind when Christ takes His people.
