"A Future and a Hope”

Brothers and sisters, have you ever gone through a season where life felt like exile?

Where you were waiting… praying… but nothing seemed to change?

Maybe it’s sickness, maybe financial struggle, maybe a family situation. You’re in a place you don’t want to be, and you wonder: “Has God forgotten me?”

That’s exactly how the Israelites felt.

They were carried away into Babylon—far from home, far from the temple, far from everything familiar. Some false prophets told them, “Don’t worry, you’ll be back soon!” But Jeremiah came with a hard word: “No… you’ll be here for 70 years.”

Imagine hearing that! Seventy years! Some of them would never live to see Jerusalem again. But then—right in the middle of that painful news—God speaks these words:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

1. God Knows the Plan

Notice, God doesn’t say “You know the plan.” He says, “I know the plan.”

The people didn’t see it. All they saw was loss and exile. But God was saying: “You may not understand, but I do. I am still in control.”

My friends, sometimes life feels like a puzzle with missing pieces. But God holds the whole picture. When we can’t trace His hand, we can trust His heart.

2. God’s Plan is for Good

He says, “…plans for welfare and not for evil.”

The Hebrew word here is shalom—peace, wholeness, well-being.

Exile wasn’t meant to destroy them; it was meant to shape them. God was purifying their hearts, drawing them back to Him.

Maybe what you are going through right now feels like exile. But listen—God is not trying to break you, He is building you. He is not out to harm you, He is preparing you.

3. We Can Delay or Destroy God’s Plan with Our Words

Here’s something important:

Even though God’s plan is good, our words can either agree with His promise or resist it.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

When we speak hopelessness—“Nothing will change… God has abandoned me… I have no future”—we actually align ourselves with the enemy’s lies, not with God’s truth.

The Israelites often complained in the wilderness and it delayed them from entering the Promised Land. In the same way, if we keep declaring hopeless words, we push away the very hope God wants to give us.

But when we speak faith—“God is still working… His promises are sure… My future is in His hands”—we open the door for His plan to unfold.

So the question is: What are you speaking over your life? Hopelessness or hope? Despair or destiny?

4. God’s Plan Gives Hope

“…to give you a future and a hope.”

Their exile would not last forever. One day, God would bring them back.

Hope is not just wishful thinking—it’s a confident expectation in God’s faithfulness. Romans 8:28 says, “All things work together for good for those who love God.”

So even when today looks dark, tomorrow is in His hands. Your story is not over. God is still writing it.

5. Our Response

God says in the next verses: “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”

Church, His plan is not for us to sit back and wait passively. His plan calls us to pray, to seek, to speak life, and to cling to Him. The blessing is not just in the destination—it’s in the relationship we build with Him along the journey.

Conclusion

Jeremiah 29:11 is not just a refrigerator magnet verse. It is a promise to a people in pain, a people waiting, a people in exile.

And maybe today you feel like you are in exile too. But hear the Word of the Lord:

• His plan is certain.

• His plan is good.

• His plan gives hope.

• And His plan requires our agreement—don’t destroy it with hopeless words, build it with words of faith.

So don’t give up. Don’t lose heart. The same God who carried Israel through Babylon is carrying you through your trial.

And in Jesus Christ, He has given us the greatest hope of all—a future that is eternal, unshakable, and full of glory.

प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, क्या आपने कभी ऐसा समय देखा है जब ज़िंदगी निर्वासन (exile) जैसी लगती है?

जहाँ आप प्रार्थना करते हैं, इंतज़ार करते हैं, लेकिन कुछ भी बदलता नहीं?

शायद बीमारी हो, आर्थिक तंगी हो, या परिवार की कोई समस्या। ऐसे में लगता है कि “क्या परमेश्वर ने मुझे भुला दिया है?”

इसी स्थिति में इस्राएली लोग थे। वे बाबुल में बंधुआई में ले जाए गए। मंदिर से दूर, अपने घर से दूर, और आशा से दूर।

कुछ झूठे भविष्यद्वक्ता कहते थे, “चिंता मत करो, जल्दी ही लौट आओगे।” लेकिन यिर्मयाह ने कहा: “नहीं, तुम 70 साल तक यहीं रहोगे।”

सोचिए! 70 साल! कुछ लोग तो जीवित भी न रह पाएंगे वापस लौटने के लिए।

परंतु ठीक उसी कठिन समाचार के बीच परमेश्वर ने यह वचन दिया:

“क्योंकि मैं उन योजनाओं को जानता हूँ जो मैं तुम्हारे विषय में करता हूँ… वे योजनाएँ हानि की नहीं, कल्याण की हैं, ताकि तुम्हें आशा और भविष्य दूँ।”

1. परमेश्वर जानता है योजना

परमेश्वर ने नहीं कहा: “तुम जानते हो योजना।” उसने कहा: “मैं जानता हूँ योजना।”

लोग केवल निर्वासन और हानि देख रहे थे, परन्तु परमेश्वर कह रहा था: “तुम्हें समझ नहीं आता, पर मैं जानता हूँ। मैं अब भी नियंत्रण में हूँ।”

2. परमेश्वर की योजना भलाई की है

वह कहता है: “…कल्याण की और हानि की नहीं।”

यहाँ शब्द है शालोम—अर्थात् शांति, पूर्णता, और आशीष।

निर्वासन नाश करने के लिए नहीं था, बल्कि उन्हें गढ़ने और शुद्ध करने के लिए था।

शायद आप आज अपने जीवन में निर्वासन जैसा अनुभव कर रहे हैं। लेकिन याद रखें—परमेश्वर आपको तोड़ना नहीं चाहता, वह आपको तैयार कर रहा है।

3. हमारी वाणी से योजना टूट सकती है

यद्यपि परमेश्वर की योजना उत्तम है, पर हमारी वाणी उस योजना को आगे बढ़ा भी सकती है और रोक भी सकती है।

नीतिवचन 18:21 कहता है: “जीवन और मृत्यु जीभ के वश में है।”

जब हम कहते हैं—“कुछ नहीं बदलेगा… परमेश्वर ने मुझे छोड़ दिया… मेरा कोई भविष्य नहीं है”—तो हम शत्रु के झूठ से सहमत हो जाते हैं और परमेश्वर की आशा को दबा देते हैं।

इसी तरह जंगल में इस्राएली लगातार शिकायत करते रहे और प्रतिज्ञा किए हुए देश में प्रवेश देर से हुआ।

आज भी अगर हम निराशाजनक शब्द बोलते रहें, तो हम परमेश्वर की योजना को विलंबित कर सकते हैं।

लेकिन जब हम विश्वास से बोलते हैं—“परमेश्वर अब भी कार्य कर रहा है… उसकी प्रतिज्ञाएँ सत्य हैं… मेरा भविष्य उसके हाथों में है”—तो हम उसके वचनों के साथ सहमत हो जाते हैं और दरवाज़ा उसकी योजना के लिए खुल जाता है।

इसलिए प्रश्न है: आप अपने जीवन पर किस तरह के वचन बोल रहे हैं—निराशा के या आशा के?

4. परमेश्वर की योजना आशा देती है

“…ताकि तुम्हें आशा और भविष्य दूँ।”

निर्वासन सदा नहीं रहेगा। एक दिन वह उन्हें वापस लाएगा।

आशा केवल कल्पना नहीं है—यह परमेश्वर की विश्वासयोग्यता में दृढ़ भरोसा है।

5. हमारी प्रतिक्रिया

अगली आयतों में परमेश्वर कहता है: “तब तुम मुझे पुकारोगे और आकर मुझ से प्रार्थना करोगे और मैं तुम्हारी सुनूँगा। तुम मुझे ढूँढोगे और जब पूरे मन से मुझे ढूँढोगे, तो पाओगे।”

अर्थात्, हमें केवल प्रतीक्षा में नहीं रहना है—हमें प्रार्थना करनी है, ढूँढना है, और अपने शब्दों से जीवन बोलना है।

निष्कर्ष

यिर्मयाह 29:11 केवल दीवार पर टाँगने की आयत नहीं है। यह पीड़ा में पड़ी प्रजा के लिए परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञा थी।

शायद आज आप भी अपने जीवन में निर्वासन जैसा अनुभव कर रहे हैं। पर यह सुनें:

• उसकी योजना निश्चित है।

• उसकी योजना भली है।

• उसकी योजना आशा देती है।

• और उसकी योजना को बनाए रखने के लिए हमें अपने शब्दों को बदलना होगा—निराशा नहीं, विश्वास बोलें।

इसलिए हार मत मानो। निराश मत होओ। वही परमेश्वर जिसने इस्राएल को बाबुल से निकाला, वही आज आपको भी संभाले हुए है।

और मसीह यीशु में उसने हमें सबसे बड़ी आशा दी है—एक भविष्य जो अनन्त, अटल और महिमामय है।
