God Gives Power to Get Wealth
God Gives Power to Get Wealth
Text: Deuteronomy 8:18
Introduction
-
People often think wealth comes from their hard work, education, or smart ideas.
-
But the Bible clearly says: “It is He that gives you power to get wealth.”
-
Our success and provision are tied to God’s covenant and purpose.
Main Points
1. Remember the Source (Faithfulness)
-
“But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God…”
-
Danger: Prosperity can make us forget God. (Deut. 8:11–14)
-
Example: Israel in the wilderness — God provided manna, water, and clothes that never wore out.
-
Application: Acknowledge God daily in your work, business, and resources.
2. God Gives the Power (Ability)
-
Wealth is not only money but ideas, opportunities, skills, health, and favor.
-
He gives wisdom to create, innovate, and prosper (Proverbs 8:12, James 1:17).
-
Application: Pray for God’s wisdom in every business decision, career step, or financial plan.
3. Wealth with Purpose (Covenant)
-
“…that He may establish His covenant…”
-
God blesses His people to advance His Kingdom, not just to satisfy personal desires.
-
Abraham’s blessing: “You will be a blessing to many nations.” (Genesis 12:2–3)
-
Application: Use wealth for generosity, missions, helping the poor, and supporting God’s work.
Conclusion
-
True prosperity is not just what you have, but how it fulfills God’s purpose.
-
Remember: Wealth is a gift of God, and we are stewards, not owners.
-
If you want lasting prosperity:
-
Acknowledge God as your source.
-
Seek His wisdom.
-
Use wealth for His Kingdom.
-
Closing Verse
Proverbs 10:22 – “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
