God Owns Everything, and We Are Stewards

📖 Key Verse: Psalm 24:1"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it."

1. Understanding Stewardship

  • Stewardship means managing what belongs to God.
  • Everything we have—money, business, land, talents, time, and opportunities—is given by God.
  • We are not owners but caretakers of His resources.

🔹 Example: A manager in a company doesn’t own the business, but he is responsible for running it well. Likewise, God gives us resources to manage wisely.

2. The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30)

  • The master entrusted money (talents) to his servants before going on a journey.
  • Two servants invested and multiplied what they received.
  • One servant buried it out of fear and was rebuked.
  • Lesson: God expects us to use and grow what He gives us, not waste it.

3. Biblical Examples of Stewardship

🔹 Joseph in Egypt (Genesis 41:39-57)

  • Joseph managed Egypt’s economy during famine.
  • His wise stewardship saved many lives.
  • Lesson: Stewardship involves planning, hard work, and wisdom.

🔹 Boaz in the Book of Ruth (Ruth 2-4)

  • Boaz was a wealthy landowner but also generous.
  • He left grain for the poor (Ruth) to gather.
  • Lesson: Business should not only be about profit but also about helping others.

🔹 Abraham’s Wealth (Genesis 13:2)

  • Abraham was very rich in cattle, silver, and gold.
  • He still remained faithful to God and even gave a tithe (Genesis 14:20).
  • Lesson: God blesses those who honor Him with their resources.

4. How to Be a Faithful Steward in Business

Work hard and wisely (Proverbs 14:23)
Use resources for good (1 Timothy 6:18)
Give to the needy (Proverbs 19:17)
Be honest and fair (Proverbs 11:1)
Multiply what God gives you (Matthew 25:21)

Conclusion

  • Everything belongs to God. We are only managers of His resources.
  • God wants us to grow, invest, and bless others through business.
  • Question: How are you managing what God has given you?
