C- The Ministry of the Holy Spirit: The Evangelist (Acts 5:29-32)

                                                      

The apostles were arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin for evangelizing. They were accused of filling Jerusalem with the gospel- the Good News that Jesus Christ was resurrected after been crucified. In holy boldness Peter said, “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.... And we are His witnesses to these things [the death, burial, and resurrection], and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those obey Him” (vv.30-32). Paraphrased, Peter was saying, “we are witnesses [evangelists] and the Holy Spirit is an evangelist also.” We must live that the lost may see Jesus in us; but even though they see Jesus in us, they cannot know how to be saved until they hear the gospel.

            Bearing similar witness in the book of Romans, Paul quoted the prophet Joel: “For ‘whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be save” (Romans10:13-17; Joel 2:32). In verses 14 and 15 Paul asks four questions which pertain to verse 13:

1)    “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?” They cannot call on Jesus and be saved until they believe “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

2)    “How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” They cannot believe until they hear the gospel, the Good News of salvation. Seeing Christ in the Christian not enough; they must hear to believe.

3)    “How shall they hear without a preacher [a witness]?” The lost must have a witness in order to hear; they must in order to believe; they must believe in order to call; and they must call in order to be saved.

4)    “And how shall preach [witness, proclaim the gospel], unless they are sent?” The Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost to baptize every born-again believer into the body of Christ (1Corinthians12:13), and empower the believer to witness, i.e., to evangelize (Acts 1:8). The risen Christ instructed His disciple: “Tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). 

                                             

 Before His death, Jesus instructed His followers; “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labours into His harvest” (Matthew 9:38). The “Lord of the harvest” (the Holy Spirit) answered that prayer on the Day of Pentecost. The 120 were sent into the fields, “already white for the harvest!”(John 4:35). For almost two thousand years the Lord of harvest (the Holy Spirit) has continued to send Holy Spirit-filled labours in to the fields, white already to harvest. When you enter the harvest to win souls to Christ, the Holy Spirit (the Lord of Harvest, the world’s greatest evangelist) will go with you, indwell you, and fill you with power to evangelize.

Remember, the lost cannot be saved until they call on the Lord for salvation. But they cannot call until they believe, they cannot believe until they hear the Gospel (Romans 10:17), and they cannot hear without a witness. The witness cannot witness unless he or she is sent by the Lord of the harvest, who will fill the witness with His power. He is waiting for you to say “Here am I! Send me” (Isaiah. 6:8).

रोमियो की पुस्तक में इसी तरह के गवाह के रूप में, पौलुस ने भविष्यद्वक्ता योएल को उद्धृत किया: "क्योंकि जो कोई भी प्रभु के नाम लेगा वह उद्धार पाएगा" (रोमियों 10: 13-17; योएल 2:32) । छंद 14 और 15 में, पौलुस चार प्रश्न पूछता है जो 13 पद्य से संबंधित हैं:

4) ''और जब तक वे नहीं भेजे जाते, तब तक [साक्षी, सुसमाचार की घोषणा] का प्रचार कैसे करेंगे? पवित्र आत्मा पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन मसीह के मंडली में प्रत्येक पुनर्जन्म विश्वासियों को बपतिस्मा देने के लिए आया था (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:13), और आस्तिक को साक्षी करने के लिए, अर्थात्, प्रचार करने के लिए (प्रेरितों के काम 1:8) । जी उठा हुवा ईसा मसीह ने अपने चेले को निर्देश दिया: "यरूशलेम के शहर में जब तक तुम ऊपर से शक्ति संपन्न नहीं हो जाते हो" (लूका 24:49) । अपनी मृत्यु से पहले, यीशु ने अपने अनुयायियों को निर्देश दिया; "इसलिए अपनी खेत में मजदूरों को भेजने के लिए फसल के स्वामी से प्रार्थना करें" (मत्ती 9:38) । "फसल के स्वामी" (पवित्र आत्मा) ने पेंटेकोस्ट के दिन में प्रार्थना का उत्तर दिया। 120 को खेतों में भेजा गया, "फसल के लिए पहले से ही तैयार है!" (यूहन्ना 4:35) । लगभग दो हज़ार वर्षों से फसल के स्वामी (पवित्र आत्मा) ने पवित्र आत्मा से भरे मजदूरों को खेतों में भेजना जारी रखा है, पहले से ही कटाई के लिए तैयार हैं। जब आप मसीह के लिए आत्माओं को जीतने के लिए फसल में प्रवेश करते हैं, तो पवित्र आत्मा (फसल के स्वामी, दुनिया के सबसे बड़े प्रचारक) आपके साथ जाएंगे, आपको विदाई देंगे, और आपको सुसमाचार प्रचार करने के लिए शक्ति से भर देंगे।

याद रखें, जब तक वे उद्धार के लिए प्रभु को नहीं बुलाते, तब तक खोए हुए को बचाया नहीं जा सकता। जब तक वे विश्वास नहीं करते, तब तक वे पुकारा नहीं कर सकते, वे तब तक विश्वास नहीं कर सकते जब तक वे सुसमाचार (रोमियों 10:17) को नहीं सुनते, और वे बिना गवाह के नहीं सुन सकते। साक्षी तब तक गवाह नहीं बन सकती जब तक कि उसे फसल के स्वामी द्वारा नहीं भेजा जाता है, जो गवाह को उसकी शक्ति से भर देगा। वह तुम्हारे लिए कह रहा है कि "मैं यहाँ हूँ!" मुझे भेजो” (यशायाह 6: 8) ।
