Strength Through the Struggle

Strength Through the Struggle

Key Text: 2 Chronicles 20:17

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you… Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged… the Lord will be with you.”

Introduction

Strength doesn’t come from winning.
Strength is developed through the struggles you face.

Real strength is not revealed when life is easy.
Real strength is revealed when you go through hardships and decide not to surrender.

With God’s strength, you are more than a conqueror.

1. Jehoshaphat – Strength in Fear (2 Chronicles 20)

Jehoshaphat was surrounded by a powerful enemy. The Bible says he was afraid, but he didn’t panic—he prayed. He called the people to fast and seek the Lord.

God did not remove the battle.
God revealed His power in the battle.

God told them:

“You will not need to fight this battle… Stand firm and see the deliverance of the Lord.”

They stood. They worshiped.
And God fought for them.

👉 Lesson: Strength grows when fear pushes you to depend on God, not run from Him.

2. David – Strength Before the Victory (1 Samuel 17)

David didn’t become strong when he defeated Goliath.
He became strong before Goliath—
When he fought lions and bears in secret.

Those hidden struggles trained him for public victory.

When Goliath stood before him, David could say:

“The Lord who delivered me from the lion and the bear will deliver me from this Philistine also.”

👉 Lesson: The battles you face today are preparing you for the giants you will face tomorrow.
Your struggle is not wasting your time—it is building your faith.

3. Joseph – Strength Through Betrayal (Genesis 37–50)

Joseph was:

  • Betrayed by his brothers

  • Sold as a slave

  • Falsely accused

  • Forgotten in prison

But Joseph did not surrender his faith.

Years later, he could say:

“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”

👉 Lesson: Your struggle may delay you, but it will never cancel God’s purpose.
God uses painful seasons to prepare you for powerful positions.

4. Daniel – Strength to Stand Firm (Daniel 6)

Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den—not because he did wrong, but because he was faithful.

He could have compromised.
He could have stopped praying.
But Daniel chose to stand firm.

And God shut the mouths of the lions.

👉 Lesson: Real strength is choosing faithfulness when compromise looks safer.
When you stand for God, God stands with you.

5. Paul – Strength in Weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9–10)

Paul said he had a “thorn in the flesh.” He prayed for it to be removed, but God answered:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”

Paul learned that strength is not about being problem-free.
It’s about being God-dependent.

👉 Lesson: Sometimes God does not remove the struggle because He wants to reveal His strength through you.

Application: Stand Firm Today

So hear this clearly:

  • Strength doesn’t come from winning.

  • Strength is built in the struggle.

  • Real strength is choosing not to surrender.

Just like:

  • Jehoshaphat stood and saw God fight

  • David faced his giant with past faith

  • Joseph trusted God in injustice

  • Daniel stood firm in danger

  • Paul relied on God in weakness

You too can stand firm today.

Conclusion

The battle may be bigger than you,
but it is not bigger than your God.

So do not be afraid.
Do not be discouraged.
Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord.

Never give up.
With God’s strength, you are more than a conqueror. 🔥🙏
