The Cost of Denying Christ
The Cost of Denying Christ
"But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven."
This verse is not just a warning but a call to unwavering faith. Today, let’s explore what it means to deny Christ, why people do it, and how we can stand firm in our faith.
1. What Does It Mean to Deny Christ?
Denying Christ is more than just saying, "I don’t know Him." It happens in different ways:
- With Our Words – Like Peter, who denied Jesus three times (Matthew 26:69-75), some deny Christ when facing pressure.
- With Our Actions – Living contrary to His teachings or compromising to please the world.
- With Our Silence – Avoiding opportunities to share the Gospel out of fear.
Jesus calls us to boldly confess Him in every part of our lives.
2. Why Do People Deny Christ?
Many people struggle to stand for Jesus because of:
- Fear of Persecution – Many avoid standing for Christ because of the consequences (John 15:18-20).
- Desire for Acceptance – Some deny their faith to fit in with the world.
- Love of Comfort – Prioritizing personal gain over obedience to God.
- Lack of Faith – Some struggle with doubt and choose to follow worldly wisdom.
But Jesus reminds us: "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8:36).
3. How Can We Boldly Confess Christ?
Instead of denying Jesus, we are called to stand strong in our faith. Here’s how:
Conclusion: A Serious Warning & A Glorious Promise
Jesus' words in Matthew 10:33 are both a warning and a challenge. If we deny Him, He will deny us before the Father. But the good news is in Matthew 10:32:
"Whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven."
Will you stand for Christ today? The world may reject us, but Jesus promises eternal life to those who are faithful.
