Not Every Dreams are Evil
Introduction:
Dreams are a mysterious part of life, and many times, they reflect our emotions, desires, and even spiritual influences. But what happens when you have a sexual dream about a loved one—perhaps your spouse, fiancé, or someone you deeply care about?
Is it just a natural expression of love? Or does it have a deeper spiritual meaning?
Today, we will explore whether such dreams are natural, emotional, or spiritual attacks—and how to respond biblically.
1. DISCERNING THE SOURCE OF THE DREAM
A. When It’s Natural
Not all sexual dreams are demonic. Some are simply the result of:
- Deep Emotional Connection – If you love someone (spouse or fiancé), your emotions may manifest in dreams (Song of Solomon 3:1).
- Biological & Psychological Factors – Your hormones and thoughts throughout the day can influence your dreams.
- Marriage & Covenant Bonding – If married, sexual dreams may simply reflect the intimacy that God designed (Hebrews 13:4).
👉 These dreams don’t bring guilt or spiritual heaviness but are a natural part of human experience.
B. When It’s a Spiritual Attack
Some dreams are influenced by spiritual forces and may indicate:
- Demonic Manipulation – The enemy can use familiar spirits to create lust, emotional entanglements, or confusion (Matthew 13:25).
- Unholy Soul Ties – If the dream involves someone you are not married to (past relationships, ex-partners), it could be a sign of spiritual bondage that needs to be broken (1 Corinthians 6:16).
- Temptation & Distraction – If the dream increases lustful desires or weakens your spiritual discipline, it’s a warning sign.
- Repeated & Oppressive Patterns – If these dreams happen frequently and bring confusion, guilt, or spiritual stagnation, they should be taken seriously.
👉 If a dream pushes you toward temptation or impure thoughts, it needs to be rejected.
2. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT SEXUAL PURITY IN THOUGHTS & DREAMS?
- Matthew 5:28 – “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
- Philippians 4:8 – “Whatever is pure, whatever is lovely… think about these things.”
- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit… honor God with your body.”
- 2 Corinthians 10:5 – “We take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
Biblical truth: What happens in our dreams and minds matters to God.
3. HOW TO RESPOND TO SEXUAL DREAMS WITH A LOVED ONE?
A. If It’s Natural:
- Thank God for healthy emotions but keep them within biblical boundaries.
- If married, pray for a blessed and God-honoring intimacy.
- If engaged, commit your relationship to God and ask for grace to remain pure until marriage (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5).
B. If It’s a Spiritual Attack:
- Pray Immediately – Declare Matthew 15:13: “Whatever my Father has not planted shall be uprooted.”
- Break Any Spiritual Manipulation – If the dream creates unhealthy desires, reject it in Jesus’ name (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
- Guard Your Heart & Mind – Avoid lustful content, worldly influences, and meditate on God’s Word (Proverbs 4:23).
- Fast & Seek Deliverance if Persistent – Some attacks require fasting and deep prayer (Isaiah 58:6).
👉 If a dream brings confusion, spiritual weakness, or emotional turmoil, pray against it!
4. PRAYER POINTS FOR PURITY IN DREAMS
- Lord, sanctify my thoughts and dreams by Your Holy Spirit (Romans 12:2).
- I break every ungodly influence over my subconscious mind in Jesus’ name!
- Father, purify my love and desires according to Your will (Psalm 51:10).
- I cancel every demonic manipulation of my dreams and emotions (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Conclusion:
Sexual dreams with a loved one are not always evil, but they must be examined in light of God’s Word. If they reflect genuine love and purity, they are natural. But if they lead to temptation, confusion, or spiritual oppression, they must be dealt with through prayer and holiness.
👉 Victory is found in Christ! (Luke 10:19)
Memory Verses:
- Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
- James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
- Colossians 3:2 – “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Final Thought:
If you or someone you know struggles with sexual dreams that bring guilt, confusion, or temptation, don’t ignore them. Pray, seek godly counsel, and stand on the truth of God’s Word. The enemy wants to plant seeds of impurity, but through Jesus Christ, you have victory over every thought and dream!
