1 John 3:13–15

Theme: From Death to Life

Introduction

My dear brothers and sisters,
Today we have gathered with heavy hearts. We are here to remember the life of our beloved Tage Ata Manu, and to comfort one another in our grief. Death is never easy. It reminds us of the shortness of life, and it makes us ask deep questions about eternity. आज हम भारी मन से यहाँ एकत्र हुए हैं। हम अपने प्रिय TAGE ATA MANU को स्मरण करने, उनके परिवार को सांत्वना देने और अपने जीवन के बारे में गहराई से सोचने आए हैं। मृत्यु कभी भी आसान नहीं होती। यह हमें याद दिलाती है कि जीवन क्षणिक है और हमें अनन्तकाल के बारे में सोचना चाहिए।

The Word of God in 1 John 3:13–15 gives us guidance today. It says:
“Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”पवित्र शास्त्र 1 यूहन्ना 3:13–15 में कहता है:
“हे भाइयों, यदि संसार तुम से बैर रखे, तो अचम्भा मत करना। हम जानते हैं, कि हम मृत्यु से पार होकर जीवन में पहुँच गए हैं; क्योंकि हम भाइयों से प्रेम रखते हैं। जिस में प्रेम नहीं, वह मृत्यु में पड़ा रहता है। जो कोई अपने भाई से बैर रखता है, वह हत्यारा है; और तुम जानते हो कि किसी हत्यारे में अनन्त जीवन नहीं रहता।”

1. The Reality of Death (v.13) मृत्यु की वास्तविकता (पद 13)

John begins by reminding us that the world is full of hatred, pain, and brokenness. यूहन्ना हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि संसार द्वेष, पीड़ा और टूटन से भरा है।

  • Death is not only physical, but also spiritual. मृत्यु केवल शारीरिक नहीं है, यह आत्मिक भी है।

  • The Bible says in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death.” बाइबल कहती है: “पाप की मजदूरी मृत्यु है” (रोमियों 6:23)।

  • When we stand at a funeral, we are reminded how fragile our earthly life is. अंतिम संस्कार हमें सिखाता है कि इस धरती का जीवन अस्थायी है।

But my friends, death is not the end for those who are in Christ. परन्तु मसीह में मृत्यु अंत नहीं है।

2. The Assurance of Life (v.14) जीवन का आश्वासन (पद 14)

The Apostle John gives us a powerful truth:
“We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.” यूहन्ना कहते हैं: “हम जानते हैं, कि हम मृत्यु से पार होकर जीवन में पहुँच गए हैं, क्योंकि हम भाइयों से प्रेम रखते हैं।”

This means:

  • Eternal life is not something uncertain—we can know. मसीही जीवन केवल वर्तमान जीवन नहीं, बल्कि अनन्त जीवन है।

  • The evidence of this eternal life is love. उसका प्रमाण है प्रेम।

  • If our ATA MANU lived a life of faith in Christ and showed love to others, then we have confidence that they have passed into eternal life with the Lord. यदि हमारे ATA MANU  ने अपने जीवन में मसीह को जाना और दूसरों से प्रेम किया, तो हमें विश्वास है कि वे अब प्रभु की उपस्थिति में अनन्त जीवन का अनुभव कर रहे हैं।

This gives us comfort: ATA MANU is no longer in pain, no longer in sorrow, but alive in the presence of Jesus Christ. यह हमारे लिए सांत्वना है: ATA MANU अब दुख में नहीं, आँसुओं में नहीं, बल्कि यीशु के साथ अनन्त आनन्द में हैं।

3. The Warning of Hate (v.15) बैर का खतरा (पद 15)

John also warns us: “He that hateth his brother is a murderer, and no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” यूहन्ना चेतावनी देते हैं: “जो कोई अपने भाई से बैर रखता है, वह हत्यारा है।”

  • God looks not only at outward actions but at the heart. परमेश्वर केवल हमारे कर्म नहीं, बल्कि हमारे हृदय को देखता है।

  • Hatred, unforgiveness, bitterness—these are signs of spiritual death. बैर, कटुता, और क्षमा न करना आत्मिक मृत्यु के चिन्ह हैं।

  • At a funeral, God speaks to us: How is my heart? Am I living in love, or am I holding on to hatred? अंतिम संस्कार हमें आत्म-परीक्षा का अवसर देता है: क्या मेरे जीवन में प्रेम है या द्वेष?

This is a call to repentance, a call to examine ourselves, and a call to embrace the love of Christ. यह पश्चाताप का आह्वान है, खुद की जांच करने के लिए एक कॉल, और मसीह के प्यार को गले लगाने के लिए एक कॉल है।

4. The Hope in Christ मसीह में आशा

In John 11:25 Jesus said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” यीशु ने कहा: “पुनरुत्थान और जीवन मैं ही हूँ; जो मुझ पर विश्वास करता है, वह यदि मर भी जाए तौभी जीवित रहेगा” (यूहन्ना 11:25)।

This is the good news: यह अच्छी खबर है:

  • Physical death is not the end for those who believe. यह हमारा सुसमाचार है: मृत्यु अंत नहीं है।

  • In Christ, we have hope beyond the grave. मसीह में हमें कब्र से परे आशा मिली है।

  • Today, while we grieve the loss of [ATA MANU], we also celebrate the hope that if we trust in Jesus, we too will pass from death into life. आज जब हम [ATA MANU] को विदा कर रहे हैं, हम यह विश्वास रखते हैं कि मसीह में जीवन है और हम भी यदि उस पर विश्वास करें तो अनन्त जीवन पाएँगे।

Conclusion & Call

My friends, today we face two realities: मेरे प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, आज हमारे सामने दो वास्तविकताएँ हैं:

  1. Death without Christ → eternal separation. मसीह के बिना → मृत्यु और अनन्त जुदाई।

  2. Life with Christ → eternal joy in His presence. मसीह के साथ → अनन्त जीवन और पुनर्मिलन।

Our sister [ATA MANU] has finished the earthly journey. But you and I are still walking. The question is: Have we passed from death to life? ATA MA MANU ने अपनी यात्रा पूरी कर ली है। परन्तु हम अभी जीवन की यात्रा पर हैं। प्रश्न यह है: क्या हमने मृत्यु से जीवन की ओर प्रवेश किया है?

If you do not yet know Christ, this is the time to open your heart to Him. If you have been carrying hatred or unforgiveness, this is the time to let it go. Choose love. Choose Christ. Choose life. यदि आपने अब तक मसीह को अपने हृदय में नहीं लिया, तो यह सही समय है। यदि आप किसी से बैर रखते हैं, तो यह समय है क्षमा करने का। प्रेम को चुनें। मसीह को चुनें। जीवन को चुनें।

Prayer

“Lord, we thank You for the life of ATA MANU. We thank You for the love and faith that were shown through their journey. Comfort the family with Your peace. Remind us all of the hope we have in Christ—that death is not the end, but the doorway to eternal life. Help us to live in love, so that one day we too may enter into Your presence with joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” “हे प्रभु, हम ATA MANU के जीवन के लिए धन्यवाद करते हैं। हम उनके प्रेम और विश्वास को याद करते हैं। परिवार को अपनी शान्ति से भर दे। हमें स्मरण दिला कि मृत्यु अंत नहीं, बल्कि तेरे संग अनन्त जीवन का द्वार है। हमें प्रेम में चलना सिखा, ताकि एक दिन हम भी तेरी उपस्थिति में आनन्दपूर्वक प्रवेश करें। यीशु मसीह के नाम से, आमीन।”

It was not a place of life, but a place of death, decay, and hopelessness.
